Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday ordered officials to complete the admission process and start classes at the upcoming defence university in the state from this year.
The directions were given at a high-level meeting of state government officials, attended by the chief secretary, to discuss the modalities of the university.
"The chief minister directed Ajay Kumar Singh, secretary, higher and technical education, to finish all formalities in this regard as soon as possible and start the classes. The meeting was convened to draft the pro forma of the Jharkhand Raksha Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Ordinance, 2016," a government press release said.
On January 23, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had laid the foundation stone of the Raksha Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, which will come up on 25 acres of land near here.
Jharkhand is the third state after Gujarat and Rajasthan to have such university.
Initiatives like the Jharkhand Raksha Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will help village youth and those from the weaker section of society in getting jobs in the fields of cyber and industrial, security management and criminology etc., the chief minister said.
On this occasion, Gujarat-based Raksha Shakti Vishwavidyalaya director general Vikas Sahay gave a powerpoint presentation on the structure and courses at the proposed university.
Sahay said all courses and syllabi at the university are job-oriented as per the needs of the public and private sectors.
He said new technologies like crime mapping based on GIS, brain and finger printing technology, layered voice analysis were covered in the courses offered by the university.
