Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday flew in a Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jet, joining the long list of dignitaries who have undertaken a sortie in this frontline fighter.
Former presidents A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil, former defence minister George Fernandes, and union ministers in the present NDA government Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Rao Inderjit Singh, are some of the dignitaries who have flown in the fighter.
The jet took off from the frontline Halwara base in Punjab.
Rijiju was invited to fly in the fighter by the IAF chief, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, who himself flew the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
