China's capital city of Beijing has closed down 326 polluting enterprises so far this year, a media report said on Monday.

At least 150 kinds of industries have been affected. Even state-owned factories with long histories in the capital have been shut down, the People's Daily reported.

Also, steps have been taken during the year to limit the expansion of existing industries.

Data showed that Beijing has shut down over 1,000 polluting enterprises since 2013.

Some 12,000 projects with high consumption of energy and water or with heavy pollution have been banned from the city.
