Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the "surgical strikes" at terror launch pads across the Line of Control.
"Modiji has shown that we're a strong nation and we don't tolerate terrorism. Entire nation is proud of the Prime Minister and the Indian Army," Fadnavis said in a congratulatory tweet.
Ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre and in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena chief Thackeray also lauded the Indian Army action coming 10 days after the Uri terror strike by Pakistan, which left 18 Indian soldiers dead.
Until now a bitter critic of the BJP and Narendra Modi for "failure" to take action against Pakistani export of terrorism, Thackeray called up Modi and congratulated him.
Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Narayan Rane said: "Salute to the brave hearts of the Indian Army. Our soldiers have once again made the nation feel proud and safe."
Nationalist Congress Party state President Sunil Tatkare and senior leader Ajit Pawar saluted the Indian Army for crossing the Line Of Control (LoC) and annihilating terrorists at the launch pads.
Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam said the army carrying out surgical strikes against Pakistan terror launch pads is good news and "it is the best option".
Several other leaders of different political affiliations have also expressed support for the government's action in Pakistan-administered Kashmir late Wednesday night.
