BJP is 'nakli' opposition, RJD is real: Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Wednesday termed friend-turned-foe BJP as a "nakli (fake) opposition" and said the real opposition was the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

"In fact the mandate for the Bharatiya Janata Party was not to sit in the opposition. People gave that mandate to the RJD," Nitish Kumar told the state assmbly.

"By going over to the opposition benches and snatching the RJD's seat, the BJP has gone back on the mandate of the people," he said.

Nitish Kumar challenged the BJP to bring a no-confidence motion against his government in the assembly.

"BJP leaders say the Nitish Kumar government is weak and is in a minority. If they think so, why are they reluctant to bring a no confidence motion?"

Nitish Kumar said the BJP routinely hurled "baseless charges" against him and then didn't bother to listen to him.

"Like in past, BJP members are again absent in the house after demanding a debate on terrorism and a reply from me."

BJP members walked out of the assembly half hour before Nitish Kumar made his statement.

BJP members Monday and Tuesday disrupted the proceedings in the assembly demanding a debate on the Patna bomb blasts during prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally in October that left six people dead.

Nitish Kumar said he would always fight against terrorism and communalism.

The chief minister said that while BJP leaders spoke about terrorism, they were silent on communalism.

There was a deep link between terrorism and communalism, he said. "Both are dangerous for the people and the country."

"I will not allow communal forces to rise their head in the state. It is wrong to say that Bihar government is soft on terrorism."
