The BJP on Wednesday alleged that its Kerala unit Chief Kummanam Rajasekharan was the target of a bomb attack at a party office in Thiruvananthapuram and demanded an impartial probe into the matter.

"We suspect that this attack was an attack on the party unit president itself," Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told a press conference here at BJP headquarters.

A bomb was thrown on Tuesday night at the Kerala state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office around 45 minutes after Rajasekharan left the office.

The Communist Party of India-Marxist-led Left government refuted the allegations, saying it had nothing to do with the attack and its workers were involved.

"There should be an impartial probe into the matter and also on the attacks on BJP and RSS workers and sympathizers," she said, adding that attacks on saffron activists has risen since the Left government came to power.

The Union Commerce Minister said: "The CPI-M has completed 100 days in office but there is no development and no governance in the state. Only one thing has happened during the period and that is political violence has increased in the state."

She also alleged that no case is registered in police stations where BJP or a RSS person or anybody else goes.

"CPI-M workers in the state are running the police stations. No case is registered or action taken on complaints of BJP and RSS workers who are being booked in false cases," she said.
