Rio de Janeiro, July 15 (IANS/EFE) Sepp Blatter, FIFA president, expressed his regret over the ban on Uruguayan player Luis Suarez for four months.
The Barcelona striker was banned after a biting incident with Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during the group stage game which ended in a 1-0 win for Uruguay, reports Efe.
Blatter refused to talk about the incident pointing out that the sanctions are designated by independent committees inside FIFA.
Blatter added that he feels for Suarez, but as the President of FIFA he must accept the decisions of its independent committees.
The FIFA top official hoped that Suarez would come back soon because he showed great skills and tactics in the 2014 World Cup.
Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool after the World Cup.
