Troubled Indian female boxer L. Sarita Devi was Wednesday banned for one year by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) for refusing to accept the Asian Games bronze medal earlier this year.
The world boxing body also handed down a two-year ban on India's foreign coach B.I. Fernandez, while clearing national coach G.S. Sandhu, a Boxing India (BI) official said.
Sarita lost her semi-finalists' bout of the women's lightweight competition at Incheon Asiad and refused to accept her medal, insisting on giving it to the victor, Jina Park of South Korea, at the presentation ceremony.
