Brazil lead Ecuador 2-1 in Davis Cup

Brazil won their doubles rubber against Ecuador to take a 2-1 lead in the Group 1 Americas stage of the Davis Cup World Group play-offs

Brazilian Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares prevailed 6-2, 6-0, 6-3 over Giovanni Lapentti and Gonzalo Escobar in Ecuador's southwest coastal city Guayaquil, reports Xinhua.

The first match of the series was won by Rogerio Dutra Silva from Brazil.

Ecuador tied 1-1 after Brazil's Guilherme Clezar had to pull out of his match Emilio Gomez due to a thigh injury in the third set.
