FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge rose by 1.09 per cent, or 70.20 points, to 6,533.79 points.
Share price of Associated British Foods increased by 8.89 per cent, topping the gainers of the blue chips on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported.
Provident Financial, Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Dixons Carphone and Taylor Wimpey increased by 8.03 per cent, 6.51 per cent, 5.82 per cent and 5.35 per cent respectively.
Fresnillo led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 4.58 per cent, followed by Randgold Resources (4.48 per cent), United Utilities Group (1.26 per cent), National Grid (1.12 per cent), Mondi (1.10 per cent).
