The West Bengal government on Friday will launch the "Safe Drive, Save Life", a special initiative aimed at creating road safety awareness, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday.
"Safe driving is an essential component of road safety. Every day, so many lives are lost due to irresponsible driving and insensible road behaviour.
"To inculcate sense of safe driving and responsible road behaviour, our government is launching the 'Safe Drive, Save Life"," she said.
The initiative is targeted to achieve cohesion among civil society, police, transport, health, roads and other government departments and NGOs to sensitize people about different aspects of safe driving and road safety, Banerjee added.
