Border Security Force troopers killed two drug smugglers in an encounter near the international border with Pakistan in the Ajnala sector of Amritsar, BSF sources said on Wednesday.
They said around five kg heroin was recovered from the spot. Search operation in the area was on.
The BSF troopers, who were patrolling the border belt in the Border Out Post (BoP) Shahpur area in Ajnala, saw suspicious movement inside the Indian territory ahead of the barbed wire fence.
When the troopers challenged the people, they opened fire. The BSF retaliated, killing two smugglers.
