The Supreme Court Wednesday granted eight days temporary bail to BSP MP Dhananjay Singh so that he could file his nomination papers from Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency.
A bench headed by Justice B.S.Chauhan granted bail to Dhananjay Singh from April 14 to April 21 to file his nomination papers and engage in electioneering.
The Bahujan Samaj Party parliamentarian from Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur moved the apex court following Delhi High Court March 31 putting on hold the March 22 trial court order granting him interim bail.
Dhananjay Singh and his wife Jagriti Singh are facing the charge of allegedly killing their maid. Dhananjay Singh is also accused in a rape case but the victim has now claimed he had done nothing wrong with her.
