Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday said the government should cancel bilateral talks with Pakistan following the terror attacks in Jammu.
A meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani Premirr Nawaz Sharif is likely Sep 29 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Terrorists struck at a police station in the Jammu region, killing six people, including four policemen. They then commandeered a truck which they drove into an army camp, where at least one army officer and two soldiers were killed.
"What has happened is distressing...an army camp has been attacked. This is a very serious development," BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said here.
"Some people say this has happened because the terrorists want to derail talks. My point is who are these terrorists and who are behind these terrorists? These attacks always happen with the backing of Pakistan Army," Sinha told Times Now.
He added: "What is the point in talking to a government which is so crippled? Therefore, I say call off the bilateral talks."
