The BJP and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) are set to take on each other in Littupara assembly by-election on Sunday, for which campaigning ended on Friday.
The by-election to the Littipara seat of the Jharkhand assembly, which fell vacant after JMM legislator Anil Murmu passed away in January, has turned into a prestige issue for the two parties.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to snatch the seat from the JMM which has been ruling the constituency for the last 40 years.
The BJP has fielded former JMM strongman and former Cabinet Minister Hemlal Murmu for the by-poll while the JMM has once again backed its old warrior Simon Marandi.
