Filmmaker Arun Vaidyanathan, who is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming directorial venture "Peruchazhi", enjoys going behind the camera but finds the process of producing movies "challenging". He can't choose between the two.
"I think production and direction are like being a dad and a mom. Dad is the one who makes sure that the kid grows well - he teaches values, trains and disciplines the child. And that's the role of a producer.
"Mom likes to shower unconditional love on her kid and that's the role of a director," Arun told IANS.
Arun, who started his career as a director with 2009 Tamil thriller "Achchamundu Achchamundu", turned producer with last year's Tamil adult-comedy "Kalyana Samayal Saadham".
"I can't choose between the two, but if given a chance, I would like to direct as well as produce.
"Producing gives me an opportunity to introduce fresh talent. With 'Kalyana Samayal Saadham', I had the privilege of introducing (director) R.S. Prasanna," said Vaidyanathan.
"I would also like to direct because there are so many different stories to tell. I also feel directing and producing are like two eyes and I really can't choose between left and right eye. Both are important," he added.
