Delhi Police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the principal of B.R.Ambedkar college here after having investigated the matter of a former employee's death for sixteen days, police said Thursday.
"We have added section 306 (abetment of suicide) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the FIR against the principal of B.R. Ambedkar College Wednesday. The principal has not been arrested yet, but the investigation in the case is under process," Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar told IANS.
Principal G.K.Arora was suspended Oct 11 by the college's governing body which sent its inquiry report to the vice chancellor for approval and action.
Arora's suspension order was released four days after the death of Pavitra Bharadwaj,40, a former laboratory assistant at the college. She set herself ablaze Sep 30 outside Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's office and died of burn injuries Oct 7.
Bhardwaj had alleged that the college principal was sexually harassing her.
