Condemnation of the terror attack on the Amarnath Yatra has come in from several countries, including Russia, France, Germany and Britain, with all of them expressing solidarity with India in the face of terrorism.

The Russian Embassy in a statement termed the Monday night terror attack in which seven pilgrims were killed a "terrible crime against humanity, which dramatically shows that international terrorists do not respect any faith or religion, that they are ready to conduct barbaric acts to reach their outrageous aims".

"Russia stands with the people of India in this difficult hour," the statement said.

The French embassy, in its message, said: "France assures the people and authorities of India of its solidarity in face of terrorism". It said that during the meeting in Paris on June 3, French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared counter-terrorism to be a priority of their strategic partnership.

In a message, German Ambassador Martin Ney conveyed condolences to the families of those bereaved, and said: "Germany resolutely stands by India in the fight against terrorism and extremism".

"As the G20 leaders just reaffirmed in Hamburg, we are resolved to tackle terrorism as a common challenge to the global community," he said.

Britain's Acting High Commissioner Alexander Evans condemned the attack and said his country stands resolutely with India in the fight against terror.

Spain has also condemned the attack, with Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy saying "India can count on Spain in the fight against terror".
