Hyderabad police have busted a cricket betting racket with the arrest of three people and seized cash and some hitech equipments.
A special team of west zone deputy commissioner of police busted the racket after receiving credible information Wednesday that some people were accepting betting on IPL match being played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors.
Police seized Rs.120,000 cash, one line box with 20 cell phones, one laptop, two television sets, a two-wheeler and other articles used for betting, said a statement from the police commissioner's office on Thursday. Venkata Rama Raju alias Ramesh (28) and Kare Srinivas Rao (38) were accepting betting using cell phones and laptop.
Veeracharla Prudhivi Raju (38 years), a native of East Godavari district, was working as collection agent for them.
Jubliee Hills police conducted raid at house in Kukatpally Housing Board colony from where the betting racket was being run.
A case was booked at Jubliee Hills police station and further investigations were on.
