The Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party's highest decision-making body, is meeting here Tuesday, the party announced.

The CWC meeting, which is expected to discuss current political situation and the demand of some party leaders to elevate party vice president Rahul Gandhi to the top post, is taking place after Congress lost the general and several state assembly elections.

CWC member Digvijaya Singh had been quite vocal in demanding that Gandhi should become the party president.

The central government taking ordinance route on important bills such as Land Acquisition Bill is also likely to come up for discussion.
