Germany international Mats Hummels has rejected a move to Manchester United, according to his club Borussia Dortmund.
United have been interested in Hummels for a while and he is on manager Louis van Gaal's list of transfer targets this summer, reports dailymail.co.uk.
But Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc claimed on Wednesday night that the 37 million pounds-rated defender will stay at the Bundesliga club.
Zorc told Kicker: "It made sense that Mats was thinking about his future, but I always pointed out that we plan (for the future) with him."
Meanwhile, United have revived their interest in 36 million pounds-rated Nicolas Otamendi. There is however no deal in place with his club Valencia.
Otamendi was linked with a move to United during the January transfer window, however a deal failed to materialise.
Van Gaal has identified the heart of his defence as a problem position with the likes of Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Marcos Rojo failing to hold down a regular spot at Old Trafford.
Evans has recently been linked with a move away from Manchester United with Everton said to be winning the race to sign the 27-year-old.
