A Delhi Traffic Police constable was crushed to death by a truck when he tried to stop it, police said Sunday.

The incident occurred Saturday morning on Ring Road near Raja Garden in west Delhi where 27-year-old Constable Aryabhushan was manning a police check post.

"Instead of slowing down, the truck driver speeded up and mowed him down. He died on the spot," an officer said.

The driver fled with the truck. No arrests have been made yet.
