The Delhi High Court Monday said the revaluation facility would be "meaningless and nugatory" if students cannot make use of revaluated marks and asked the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) to apprise it on the admission process of a student who was denied entry due to delay in the revaluation process.

While hearing a plea by student Sunny Goel who was seeking admission in SRCC, Justice Manmohan asked the college for its stand on his admission by July 31.

"This court after hearing the parties (Goel, SRCC), is prima facie of the view that revaluation facility would be rendered meaningless and nugatory if students cannot make use of revaluated marks," the court said.

Goel moved the high court seeking admission in B.Com (Honours) in SRCC, after his best-of-four percentage increased from 95.5 percent to 97.5 percent following revaluation of his papers by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The college denied him admission, saying the process concluded July 7.

Goel said he had applied for admission in the college and had also applied for revaluation but there was a delay on the part of CBSE in revaluating his English paper.

He said he should be given an opportunity to secure admission in his preferred college.

Goel added that students with percentages less than him have been admitted to the college.

The plea also cited a case of the year 2010 in which Delhi University made a statement that it would admit all students if they produce their revaluation marks till the last cut-off date irrespective of the availability of seats.

SRCC sought time from the court to apprise it on the issue.
