Bangladeshi authorities have placed an embargo on the use of stickers on vehicles identifying various professions, like journalism, a media report said on Wednesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Tuesday made the announcement at a press briefing, Xinhua news agency reported.
He said journalists, lawyers and policemen could use painted logos of their respective organisations on their vehicles.
He said the decision was aimed at preventing any attempt of criminals to commit crimes using vehicles carrying the stickers of different professionals.
Muslim-majority Bangladesh has been facing a surge in violent attacks in the recent months in which secularists and other religious groups have also been targeted.
Two persons including a writer of a LGBT magazine were hacked to death on Monday by unidentified assailants in Dhaka, hours after a prison guard was shot dead in a separate incident.
