The Lucknow bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Wednesday served a contempt notice to Principal Secretary (Home) Debashish Panda for not complying with its order to reinstate suspended IPS official Amitabh Thakur.
The bench of Navneet Kumar and Jayati Chandra asked Panda to reply within four weeks why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him and fixed July 16 as the next date of hearing.
In the petition filed before the CAT, Amitabh Thakur said that, in its interim order on April 25, CAT had stayed his suspension and directed his reinstatement with full salary with effect from October 11, 2015.
The order was served to the state government on the same date but it was yet to be complied with, the petition said.
