A former legislator and chief of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), Engineer Rashid, on Friday said he will contest the Lok Sabha election from Baramulla constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.
Engineer Rashid told the media here that he would contest as an Independent candidate.
He represented Langate in the state Assembly that was dissolved by Governor Satya Pal Malik.
For the Baramulla seat, the National Conference has fielded Muhammad Akbar Lone, People's Conference has put up Raja Aijaz Ali, the PDP's candidate is Abdul Qayoom Wani and the Congress has given ticket to Salman Anees Soz.
