The house of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Vandana Kumari was burgled of Rs.5.50 lakh in cash and some jewellery, Delhi Police said Wednesday.

Vandana Kumari, the former MLA from Shalimar Bagh in northwest Delhi, claimed that the burglars also took away a cheque of Rs.12 lakh, issued on the name of AAP, from her rented accommodation.

The incident came to light when the MLA reached her flat with her husband around 10.45 p.m. Tuesday.

In her complaint, Vanddana Kumari said the lock of her flat's main door was broken and her house was completely ransacked.

Vandana Kumari told IANS that she left her house with her husband at around 8 a.m. Tuesday and was busy in a party meeting till 10 p.m.

"The burgled money and the cheque was collected through fund raising organised by the party Dec 22. The fund was to be used in the upcoming election," she added.

Asked about if she suspects anyone, she said: "How can I suspect anyone? Everyone knows that we are collecting money through fund raising. A few days ago my car was also damaged. This case might have some link with the previous one."

"As my all identity proofs are missing along with my husband's documents, I feel a conspiracy behind the incident. The burglars had also torn all my documents. If it would be a normal burglary, why the robbers would damage my documents," Vandana Kumari said.
