Feyenoord moved up to the second place in the Dutch Eredivisie defeating PEC Zwolle 2-0.

Feyenoord distanced themselves from PEC in the second half here on Sunday. Dirk Kuyt smashed home a cross by Rick Karsdorp to make it 1-0 and Eljero Elia netted the second goal, reports Xinhua.

On Saturday, league leaders Ajax beat FC Groningen 2-0 in Amsterdam. Nemanja Gudelj opened the scoring with free kick in the 23rd minute. Early in the second half Ajax wasted several good opportunities, but substitute Viktor Fischer finished the job with a subtle chip after a fine solo effort.

Heracles Almelo succumbed to their second defeat of the season against AZ Alkmaar 1-3. Markus Henriksen and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw scored for Alkmaar. Jaroslav Navratil narrowed the margin with fifteen minutes to go for Almelo, but Muamer Tankovic secured the home victory with a chip shortly afterwards.

Reigning champions PSV Eindhoven had a difficult evening against club NEC 1-2. Luuk de Jong put PSV in front with his seventh goal of the season. Christian Santos equalised from the penalty spot for NEC. Jurgen Locadia became NEC's match winner with a header in the 76th minute.

After their sixth win in seven matches, Ajax kept the top spot in the standings with 19 points, followed by Feyenoord (16), Heracles Almelo (15), PEC Zwolle (14) and PSV (14).
