At least five people were killed and several others injured after two blasts rocked Pakistan's Karachi city Friday evening, a leading Pakistani daily reported.

The blasts took place near a hotel in the city's Ancholi area, The Dawn reported.

The noise from the explosions were heard at far distances and some vehicles parked in the area were destroyed, the report said.

There is reportedly a complete power blackout in the area after the twin blasts, the daily said.

Rescue services and police have rushed to the scene.
