Three suspected militants and two security personnel were killed in an exchange of fire on Thursday in Pakistan's Bannu district.
Security sources said the suspected militants attacked the Khadim security checkpost, Dawn reported.
They said that security personnel killed three 'terrorists' in retaliatory fire.
Following the attack, security forces also launched a search operation in the area.
Bannu, which stands near the gateway to the semi-autonomous Waziristan tribal region, lies 150 kilometres south-west of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
