A wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant, involved in a bomb blast targeting a police vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town last month, was arrested on Wednesday, the army said.
"A joint team of army and police apprehended a LeT terrorist at a vehicle check post established in Channa Khan (area of Sopore) today," a defence statement said here.
It said that the check post was set up based on a specific intelligence input regarding the movement of a LeT terrorist and the joint team successfully apprehended the guerrilla, who was later identified as Ubaid Tariq Untoo (Faris), son of Tariq Ahmad Untoo, and resident of Kralteng of Trail in south Kashmir.
A Chinese-made pistol and three live rounds were seized from him.
According to the statement, Untoo was the main accused in the June 20 blast in Sopore targeting a police vehicle near a restaurant, in which arrested terrorist, Waheed Noor Khan of Pakistani Kashmir and a local policeman was killed and four other police constables injured.
"An FIR has been registered and the apprehended terrorist has been handed ov er to the local police station, Sopore," it added.
