Congress president Sonia Gandhi Thursday said that some forces are at work to "destroy" the legacy and ideology of Jawarharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of Independent India.

Gandhi was speaking on the eve of 125th birth anniversary commemoration of Nehru. It was organised by the Congress here.

"There is a concerted attempt to destroy his (Nehru's) legacy and ideology. Some forces are at work and we have to fight them," Gandhi said without naming the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
