Former cricketer V.V.S. Laxman was awarded an honorary doctorate at the seventh convocation ceremony of TERI University here Wednesday.
Three others also received the honour -- former president of East Timor Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta, Unilever CEO Paul Polman, and Hitachi chairman Hiroaki Nakanishi.
Accepting the doctorate, Laxman said: "I am happy because I wanted to become a doctor but realised my dream to play for the country. This is the right time for the youth to realise their personal aspirations and bring glory to the nation."
