At least four passengers were killed and 50 injured as four bogies of the Nizamuddin (Delhi)-Ernakulam Mangala Express derailed here early Friday, officials said.

The accident took place around 6.30 a.m. in the treacherous ghat sections of Nashik between Ghoti and Igatpuri stations on the Central Railway route.

The four derailed bogies are strewn on the adjacent tracks, and have completely blocked rail traffic between Mumbai-Nashik.

The injured have been rushed to Ghoti rural hospital and private hospitals in Igatpuri and other towns, police said.
