The French Football Federation (FFF) has extended the contract of national team coach Didier Deschamps through to 2016, it was announced Tuesday.

FFF president Noel Le Graet said Deschamps' success in leading France into the 2014 World Cup finals earned him the extension. He will now stay to lead the team into the 2016 Euros, which France will host, Xinhua reported.

Deschamps' contract would expire next year after the World Cup.

France beat Ukraine 3-0 Tuesday to book the ticket to Brazil with a 3-2 aggregate victory.
