Singer Lady Gaga and Oscar-nominated actor Bradley Cooper are joining forces to remake classic Hollywood musical drama "A Star is Born".
Warner Bros has given the go-ahead to the movie, and the production will begin early next year in California. It will mark Cooper's directorial debut, and is Gaga's first feature film acting role, reports deadline.com.
Cooper will also star in the film.
"A Star is Born" is the story of an aspiring young starlet who arrives in Hollywood and is helped by an ageing leading man.
Gaga will feature as the ingenue singer whose star rises as quickly as her troubled lover as well as mentor's star is falling. She will also compose and perform new music for the film.
The "Born this way" hitmaker said on Twitter that she was "elated" to be part of the project. She had been rumoured to be joining the film since earlier this year.
The singer made her acting debut in FX's show "American Horror Story: Hotel", playing the vampire countess.
She will soon be seen in "American Horror Story" season six -- to be aired in India on Star World Premiere in September.
