The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is set to free all land and built up property from illegal occupants.

GDA Secretary Ravendra Madhukar Godbole said on Thursday that FIRs would be filed against illegal occupants and colonizers "who are trying to cheat the public by selling plots without GDA authorization".

During the audit of its property records and physical verification, it was found that precious land had been grabbed by land grabbers and illegal occupants had occupied its built up flats in the newly developed colonies which were yet to be sold.

In some cases, GDA employees were found to be in collusion with land grabbers and illegal occupants. "So an effective drive is being launched to evacuate all such land and built up flats," said Godbole.

The campaign will be formally launched from the first week of July. "No influential person will be spared," he said.

To evacuate about 5,000 built up flats and over 250 acres of land, a plan has been chalked out and GDA has asked for police help.

According to the GDA, in the first phase, the bigger size plots would be freed of illegal occupation followed by medium size plots and small sized plots and flats in the second as well and third phases.
