Former Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat and three officials have been issued summons in connection with the Rs.35,000 crore illegal mining case, police said Monday.
Kamat, former law secretary V.P. Shetye, a former director of mines and geology and another official have been called, Deputy Inspector General of Police K.K. Vyas told reporters.
Kamat has been called Feb 8, he said.
Under pressure from the Supreme Court, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition had filed a first information report against unknown people in the mining case.
The government is being accused by the opposition and the civil society of siding with mining magnates.
Kamat, who was minister of mines for more than a decade and chief minister for five years till 2012, has been accused by the Justice M.B. Shah Commission of having allegedly overseen the Rs.35,000 crore mining scam in which bureaucrats and mining magnates are also linked.
