It was a hot, cloudy Friday in the capital with the maximum temperature settling at 40.6 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the season. The weather office has forecast similar weather Saturday.
"The skies will be cloudy Saturday morning but the afternoon will be hot," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Saturday's maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 39 and 26 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature Friday was 24.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below average for this time of the season. The maximum humidity was 66 percent.
Thursday's maximum temperature was 40.4 degrees Celsius - average for this time of year, and the minimum was a notch above average at 27.8 degrees Celsius.
