Air Chief Marshal Air Chief Marshal N.A.K. Browne Wednesday reviewed the security scenario with his station commanders in the Eastern Air Command.
Browne, here on a two-day visit to the command headquarters, reviewed the security scenario with special reference to India's northeast.
He also inaugurated the commanders' conference at the Command Headquarters in Upper Shillong.
Browne's meeting is significant following the recent intrusion by Chinese troops in Ladakh region.
"The air chief updated the station commanders on the security scenario," defence ministry spokesperson Amit Mahajan said.
He quoted Browne as saying that the Indian Air Force (IAF) was on a high growth path and in the process of acquiring multi-spectral strategic capabilities.
India and China fought a bitter border war in 1962, with Chinese troops advancing deep into Arunachal Pradesh and inflicting heavy casualties on poorly-armed Indian troops.
China has never recognised the McMahon Line that the erstwhile British rulers drew to demarcate the boundary bedtween India and Tibet.
Beijing claims 90,000 sq km of Indian territory, including nearly all of Arunachal Pradesh. India accuses China of occupying 8,000 sq km in Jammu and Kashmir.
