Jaitley to attend 13th Corporate Governance awards

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be the chief guest at the 13th Corporate Governance Awards to be given here Aug 24, an official said Wednesday.

Jaitley will attend the presentation ceremony of the National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance, organised by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), at the Taj Bengal here, said ICSI president R. Sridharan.

"Arun Jaitley will be the chief guest at the awards. There are a host of other personalities who will attend. We are not revealing right away," he told reporters.

He also said the three-day 42nd National Convention of Company Secretaries will begin Thursday at the Science City auditorium here.

"Former union minister M. Veerappa Moily will give a special lecture Aug 22. Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy will be among the speakers too," he said.

Sridharan said around 1,000 delegates, including a few foreigners, will attend the event. Nineteen speakers will deliver addresses during the programme.
