Los Angeles, June 7 (IANS/EFE) Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem has finalized deals to appear in "The Gunman" and "A Most Violent Year", Deadline Hollywood reported.
In "The Gunman", the Spaniard will play opposite Sean Penn's character: a retired government assassin whose past is starting to catch up with him.
Pierre Morel ("Taken") will direct the Joel Silver-Andrew Rona production, with financing provided by Studio Canal.
Bardem, who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his depiction of a quirky, psychopathic hit man in "No Country for Old Men", will play the hero in "A Most Violent Year".
Directed by J.C. Chandor ("Margin Call"), the picture is due to begin filming this fall in New York.
