Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is on the road to full recovery and it is for the doctors at Apollo Hospitals to decide on her discharge, the AIADMK said.

"Our leader is recovering fast. She is interacting with others. She speaks and it is all rumours that she communicates only by sign language," party spokesperson C.R. Saraswathi told IANS.

She said it was for the doctors to decide on Jayalalithaa's discharge.

Meanwhile, the hospital continued to maintain silence on Jayalalithaa's health condition for the sixth consecutive day.

The last bulletin on Jayalalithaa was issued on October 21 where it said she continued to be under treatment and observation for all vital parameters, respiratory support and passive physiotherapy.

The hospital said Jayalalithaa "is interacting (with people) and progressing gradually".

The 68-year-old was admitted to the hospital with fever and dehydration on September 22.

Doctors later said she needed a longer stay at the hospital as she had infection and was put on respiratory support.

According to Apollo, a team of specialists like cardiologists, respiratory physicians, consultants for infectious diseases, diabetologist and endocrinologist was treating Jayalalithaa.

Meanwhile, prayers were be held outside the hospital by AIADMK cadres for Jayalalithaa's speedy recovery. Similar prayers were also held in several temples across the state.
