Barcelona French defender Jeremy Mathieu is looking to leave the Catalan football club because he fears that he will miss his place next season, according to Sport newspaper on Wednesday.
Sport said that Mathieu did not take part in many encounters last season and was more like a substitute player, who featured in only 34 games.
It is not clear yet if coach Luis Enrique will use Mathieu next season or not, especially with Samuel Umtiti joining the Catalan club, reports Efe.
Mathieu sustained an injury last season and had to undergo surgery that prevented him from joining the French national team during the European championship.
