From launching start-ups to joining non-profit organisations, the graduates of Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) in Sonipat, Haryana have discovered unconventional ways of giving shape to their dreams after successfully completing what many describe as a "conventional" law course.
While a large number of the graduates of the latest batch of five-year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), three-year LL.B. and one-year LL.M. courses did opt to cut their teeth in law firms and in chambers of lawyers/judges, a few decided to launch or join start-ups, thereby widening the career horizon for future law graduates.
Commenting on their diverse choice of career, professor C. Raj Kumar, vice chancellor, O.P. Jindal Global University and dean of JGLS, remarked: "With a growing range of career streams being pursued by JGLS students, we are confident that in a very short time, our students are going to emerge as thought leaders making deep changes to the very landscape of preferred careers after law."
Each of the 137 students who have graduated -- 91 from five-year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) batch, 24 students from three-year LL.B. Course and 22 from LLM course -- is either working or pursuing higher studies, with a small number of students preparing for competitive exams, an official statement said.
Institutes for pursuing LL.M degree by the 2015 batch of graduate students of JGLS included Oxford University; Benjamin Cardozo School of Law; Central European University; Erasmus University, Rotterdam; George Washington University Law School; Maurer School of Law, Indiana University; University of Essex School of Law; University of San Francisco Law School; and World Trade Institute, University of Bern, the statement added.
