The Delhi government on Friday told a court here that the Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in the JNU sedition case in haste and secretly without getting the sanction of the competent authority.
The government also told the court that it will take one more month to decide whether to grant sanction or not in the case.
The Delhi government's submission came before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Sherawat, who listed the matter for further hearing on April 8.
The court in its last hearing asked the government to submit a definite time frame to decide when sanction would be given in the Jawaharlal Nehru University case that involves a 2016 event organised in the campus against the hanging of Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru.
The chargesheet was filed on January 14. It named former student leaders Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and seven Kashmiri students as accused.
