A "Kalinga-Lanka Foundation" has been launched to celebrate the historic links between ancient Kalinga kingdom and Sri Lanka.

The foundation was launched at the Sri Lankan high commission here, a statement from the mission said Friday.

Former Indian foreign secretary Lalit Mansingh is leading this initiative, the statement said.

The objective of the Kalinga-Lanka Foundation is to rediscover and reinvigorate the rich historic connect by way of multi-faceted initiatives for promotion of people-to-people contacts and links in arts and culture, education, skills development, science and technology and tourism.
