Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has floated a new company called Stone Bench Creations, which aims at providing technology related services to different arms of filmmaking.
Before making his directorial debut with Tamil horror-thriller "Pizza", Karthik was working in the technology industry. He has formed the company in association with his friends with technological expertise.
"Having spent five years in the technological domain, I see the experiences in the entertainment industry from a technological perspective. Although technology has been playing a key role in filmmaking, I feel there are plenty of opportunities in other branches of filmdom," Karthik said in a statement.
From casting to promotion of films on digital platform to distribution of independent films, Stone Bench Creations will help stakeholders earn recognition, reputation and remuneration.
The company will be divided into three arms - Bench Flix, Bench Cast and Bench Webs.
"Bench Flix is for independent filmmakers that will distribute independent films and short films across different distribution channels thereby creating identity and a revenue channel for them," he said.
"Bench Cast is a technology driven casting solution that brings creators and actors on a common platform to streamline the process," he added.
Finally, Bench Webs will "build quality movie websites in a jiffy."
He feels that filmmakers should engage fans in all the activities - from a launch to Silver Jubilee celebrations with rich digital content, and "what better way than a cool website".
Karthik is currently awaiting the release of his second Tamil directorial "Jigarthanda".
