Television actress Vindhya Tiwari, currently seen in a lighter role in "Mrs Pammi Pyarelal", says she had to struggle a lot to speak chaste Urdu on the show.
Her character is called Gayatri.
"I have never said a word of Urdu in my life. When I saw the script, I was like what is this? In daily soap, we don't get time to prepare unlike films. But everyone was so supportive, my accent became good," Vindhya told IANS.
"It was challenging for me. I thought that my fans have always seen me in a serious role, they will see something different. This is a rare opportunity in TV. I thought I must do it," added the actress who was seen as subservient daughter-in-law in "Maryada-Lekin Kab Tak".
While in "Mrs Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuyen", she played a woman who has to deal with her dominating mother-in-law.
To fit the role in "Mrs Pammi Pyarelal", which went on air July 15 on Colors, Vindhya slogged really hard.
"I never thought that I will be speaking in Urdu. I write down all the new words and then make sure that I say it with ease. I am really working hard and people's wishes are there with me," she said.
"The most important thing is that the show has a unique concept. It is a romantic comedy and I have not done comedy before this. I was looking forward to playing Gayatri," she added.
Vindhya is happy with the response to the show.
"I think in real life also, it is easy to make someone cry, but to make someone laugh is very difficult. I feel comedy is a hit with the right punch, then there is nothing better. There are very few serials on TV which are comedy and people are enjoying. I think it is a roller coaster ride and people are liking it," she said.
