Lin Tzu Chi won the second weightlifting gold for Chinese Taipei at the Asian Games with a world record-breaking performance in the women's 63kg division here Tuesday.
Lin lifted 145kg in her final attempt in the clean and jerk and 116kg in the snatch to beat the previous world mark of 257kg, reports Xinhua.
"I was injured badly last year. However, with the help of the medical team and a rehab program, I was able to come back and get a better result," said Lin.
"I still have room to improve. Actually, I did better in training, and I believe I can do better next time," added Lin.
China's Deng Wei captured the silver with 259kg and DPR Korea's Jo Pokhyang won the bronze with 247.
"We tried our best, but our opponents were stronger. We should work harder," said Deng.
Chinese Taipei's first gold came from Hsu Shu Ching in the women's 53kg category.
Also Tuesday, China's Lv Xiaojun, an Olympic champion and three-time world champion, won gold in the men's 77kg category with a combined lift of 375kg. He broke the Asian Games record in the snatch with 175kg.
"From the first snatch I know I could win. I tried my best today and the result was good," said Lv.
Kim Kwang-song of DPR Korea grabbed the silver with 363kg, and the bronze went to Thailand's Chatuphum Chinnawong with 353kg.
